KEEP PRESSING TOWARDS THE MARK
Read: PHILIPPIANS 3: 12-16
Meditation verse:“Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me” (Philippians 3:12).
In the wake of turning 50, I found myself in a place of constant restlessness and anxiety. I would unconsciously review my life and feel thoroughly dissatisfied in certain areas. I could barely sleep, and even when I managed to do so, I would wake up suddenly, heart pounding. As I turned to God for help, He began to teach me from His word. One morning, today’s meditation verse hit me like a brick wall.
Paul was not in a perfect place when he made that statement. In fact if anyone had things to regret it was Paul. He had persecuted the Christians with an unmatched zeal, he held the coats of those who stoned Stephen to death. He had a thorn in his flesh that was so uncomfortable he begged God three times to remove it. He was not even a professional like the disciple Luke, he was a tent maker. But, as he recounted his life to the Philippians, he was not speaking from a place of regret, but from a place of gratitude. Gratitude to God, who had brought him thus far despite his past, gratitude also in the knowledge that the He who had begun a good work in his life would faithfully complete it.
Irrespective of what life has handed you, you must adopt this mindset. Press forward from a place of gratitude, not from a place of striving, fear, anxiety or regret. Because God is not in such places. Today, press forward and take hold of all that Christ has made available for you, in the confidence that the ‘Lord will perfect that which concerns you” (Ps 138:8).

Have you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour?
Jesus says in Mathew 11:28; “come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, this invitation is for you. Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart; all you need to do is invite Him in, by believing and receiving Him.
Are you ready? Here’s a prayer you can say right now:
Dear Lord, I acknowledge that I am a sinner in need of grace. I believe that Jesus died to set me free from my sins. Thank You Jesus for dying to save me. Please forgive me for all my sins and come into my heart. Be my Lord and Saviour. Fill me with Your Spirit and enable me to live for You from now onwards, in Jesus’ name, Amen
