GO WITH THE TESTED
GO WITH THE TESTED
Read: 1 SAMUEL 17: 1-59
Meditation verse:“And David said to Saul, ‘I cannot walk with these, for I have not tested them’. So, David took them off” (1 Sam 17:39b)
Everything you need to succeed in the assignment that God has given to you is already inside of you; you are uniquely shaped for your assignment. You do not need to become like any other person nor have their ability to accomplish what God has called you to do—it amounts to borrowing some other person’s armour. You have yours, which is all you need for the job. You are unique and your assignment is unique to you.
In preparing David for his fight with Goliath, King Saul clothed him with his own armour. When David tried to walk in it, he found that he could not. For him, it was untested terrain; it felt unnatural—so, he took it off:
Then he took his staff in his hand and he chose for himself five smooth stones from the brook and put them in the shepherd’s bag, in a pouch which he had, and his sling was in his hand. And he drew near to the Philistine – 1 Sam 17:40
When he put on that with which he was familiar, he advanced confidently towards the Philistine and defeated him.
You cannot fulfil the purpose that God has for you nor win the battles of life with someone else’s armour. If you do, you will either get stuck or keep going round in circles. No matter how much you admire a person’s talent or ability, do not attempt to copy it. You can commend and admire, but do not be a copycat. Discover the assignment that God has given to you and identify your areas of giftings. Then confidently advance towards your assignment and you will have good success.

Have you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour?
Jesus says in Mathew 11:28; “come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, this invitation is for you. Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart; all you need to do is invite Him in, by believing and receiving Him.
Are you ready? Here’s a prayer you can say right now:
Dear Lord, I acknowledge that I am a sinner in need of grace. I believe that Jesus died to set me free from my sins. Thank You Jesus for dying to save me. Please forgive me for all my sins and come into my heart. Be my Lord and Saviour. Fill me with Your Spirit and enable me to live for You from now onwards, in Jesus’ name, Amen
If you prayed this prayer, please email me at email@example.com and let me know about it. I would love to pray with you personally and send you a copy of my eBook; ‘Living the Life’ to encourage you as you begin your journey with Jesus.
