FROM BABEL TO PENTECOST

Read: GENESIS 11:1-9, ACTS 2:1-47

Meditation verse:
“Fulfil my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind” (Philippians 2:2)

According to Genesis 11, the whole earth initially had one language and one speech, until the people came together to build a tower reaching to the heavens. Then the Lord confused the language of all the earth and the place was named Babel. Babel means the potential for confusion, a confused situation or a confused noise made by several voices.

The bible also gives an account of another experience in the book of Acts. At Pentecost, they were all in one accord and in one place. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave then utterance. Each one heard them in his own language. Many gladly received the word and were baptized. Thousands of souls were saved, and they continued steadfastly in fellowship, in breaking of bread, in prayers and in unity. At Pentecost, there was unity and progress, at Babel, there was disorder, disunity, and confusion.

I feel led to speak specifically to marriages today. May the Almighty turn every babel experience in your marriage to a Pentecost experience. Where the communication or language in your marriage has been one of confusion and misunderstanding, may there be clarity, unity and understanding. “May the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like minded towards one another, according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 15:5-6).

Here’s God’s instruction for you to follow. “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit but in lowliness of mind, let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his interests, but also for the interest of the other” (Philippians 2:3-4). “Submitting to one another in the fear of God. Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Saviour of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her” (Ephesians 5:21-25).

Have you asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart?

He says in Mathew 11:28, “come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” He longs to give you rest."

Would you like to do so now? Here’s a prayer you can say:
Dear Jesus, I believe that You died to save me from all my sins. Today, I invite you into my heart and I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Please forgive all my sins and help me to live my life for You.

If you prayed this prayer, send me an email at rockteachingministry@gmail.com

I would love to pray with you personally and send you a copy of my book; ‘Living the Life’ to encourage you as you begin your new life in Christ.
