YOUR SPHERE OF INFLUENCE (1)

Read: JOSHUA 19: 1-51

Meditation verse:“We, however, will not boast beyond measure, but within the limits of the sphere which God appointed us- a sphere which especially includes you” (2 Corinthians 10: 13)

I recall reading this chapter of the book of Joshua and wandering to myself why a whole chapter, including the previous one was dedicated to details of the division of the conquered lands amongst the tribes of Israel. The areas were all listed out according to tribes, without omission. As I pondered, it was impressed in my spirit that God is a God of inheritance. He is so particular about His children taking possession of that which has been freely allotted to them.

In modern times, God is not allotting plots of land to you. Your inheritance is your sphere of influence. There is a sphere of influence in this earthly domain that you are meant to operate in and there are people within the sphere whose lives you are destined to impact. These spheres may include: business, education, leadership, politics, sports and ministry. You must know the sphere or field of authority that God has assigned to you because you are meant to fulfil your life’s purpose within it. Unfortunately, most people are yet to identify their sphere of influence, several others are operating outside the limits of the sphere that God has allotted to them.

How can you identify your sphere of influence? Several characteristics define it: impact, influence, and authority. With impact and influence come ownership and authority. Within the boundaries of your sphere of influence, you are an authority and a force to reckon with because you are making great impact. So, where are you making your greatest impact? Which sphere do you wield maximum influence and authority?

Have you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour?

Jesus says in Mathew 11:28; “come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, this invitation is for you. Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart; all you need to do is invite Him in, by believing and receiving Him.

Are you ready? Here’s a prayer you can say right now:

Dear Lord, I acknowledge that I am a sinner in need of grace. I believe that Jesus died to set me free from my sins. Thank You Jesus for dying to save me. Please forgive me for all my sins and come into my heart. Be my Lord and Saviour. Fill me with Your Spirit and enable me to live for You from now onwards, in Jesus’ name, Amen
