YOU ARE A PARTAKER OF GOD’S DIVINE NATURE
Read: GALATIANS 3:1–14
Meditation verse:
“The son of the slave wife was born in a human attempt to bring about the fulfilment of God’s promise. But the son of the freeborn wife was born as God’s own fulfilment of His promise” (Galatians 4:23, NLT).
At salvation, you exchange your sinful nature for the divine nature of God.
As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. – 2 Peter 1:3–4
You are now a child of God’s promise, just like Isaac. You were redeemed that you might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Your life should begin to bear fruits by the power of the Holy Spirit, no longer by human effort.
The Galatians went back to their old ways of living and Paul called them foolish. To be foolish means to lack a good sense of judgement. It means to make decisions or act unwisely. If you go back to living a life of sin after your redemption, you are being foolish. Romans 6:1–2 says, “what shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?” If you continue to depend solely on your efforts, abilities, or wisdom rather than on God’s ability to help you through the power of His Holy Spirit in you, you are being foolish. “God does not delight in the strength of the horse; He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man. The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy” (Psalm 147:10–11).
If you continue to dwell in self-condemnation and guilt, you are being foolish. “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit” (Romans 8:1). If you strive to earn God’s approval through your works rather than through faith in Him, you are being foolish. You are not justified by works, but by faith. You cannot earn God’s approval, no matter how hard you try. You are already approved if you have received His gift of salvation. “So, it is clear that no one can be made right with God by trying to keep the law. For the Scriptures say, ‘It is through faith that a righteous person has life.’” (Galatians 3:11, NLT). From now onwards, live in this consciousness.

Have you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour?
Jesus says in Mathew 11:28; “come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, this invitation is for you. Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart; all you need to do is invite Him in, by believing and receiving Him.
Are you ready? Here’s a prayer you can say right now:
Dear Lord, I acknowledge that I am a sinner in need of grace. I believe that Jesus died to set me free from my sins. Thank You Jesus for dying to save me. Please forgive me for all my sins and come into my heart. Be my Lord and Saviour. Fill me with Your Spirit and enable me to live for You from now onwards, in Jesus’ name, Amen
