THE STIRRING OF THE POOL

Read: JOHN 5: 1-15

Meditation verse:“For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had.” (John 5:4)

Some years back, I had already decided to close my office at the end of the year, when I felt a strong stirring within me to host a training program I had recently developed. And what a huge impact I had with that program. As you go about your daily affairs, you may feel the stirring of the Holy Spirit in your hearts every now and then. This can come in the form of a strong urge to do something, a sudden knowing or a restlessness within you.

Did you notice in today’s reading that after the pool was stirred, something had to be done: someone had to jump into it? Similarly, it is important that you act when you feel the Holy spirit tugging your heart.

Determine within you to act whenever you feel a stirring in your heart. Don’t let the fear of uncertainty hold you back. “So, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of the Lord of hosts, their God.” (Haggai 1:14).

Have you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour?

Jesus says in Mathew 11:28; “come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, this invitation is for you. Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart; all you need to do is invite Him in, by believing and receiving Him.

Are you ready? Here’s a prayer you can say right now:

Dear Lord, I acknowledge that I am a sinner in need of grace. I believe that Jesus died to set me free from my sins. Thank You Jesus for dying to save me. Please forgive me for all my sins and come into my heart. Be my Lord and Saviour. Fill me with Your Spirit and enable me to live for You from now onwards, in Jesus’ name, Amen
