Renew Your Mind

Read: Romans 12:1-2

Meditation verse:

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:2).

To renew means to give fresh life to. It also means to replace something that is broken or worn out. Your mind is the seat of your emotions, moods, thoughts and beliefs. If the mind is polluted, everything coming out of you such as your speech and cations will be polluted. It is always a case of garbage in, garbage out. Therefore, be careful how you think because your life is shaped by your thoughts. Your thoughts affect your emotions which determine your actions, and your actions determine the course of your life.

Your mind is also a very dynamic gateway. It is where you feel, think, hope, dream, imagine, remember, conclude, perceive and decide. It is also where you connect with God. Your mind is capable of very powerful inventions. Unfortunately, the enemy knows the power of your mind, so he targets it using a variety of weapons such as fear, doubt, condemnation, lust, hatred and all kinds of sin. As soon as you allow him access to sow these seeds, you have lost the battle in there and eventually this will manifest in your outer life. The battle is always first lost in the mind. “For as a man thinketh in his heart so is he” (Proverbs 23:7).

Little wonder, the bible admonishes us to renew our mind. How do you renew your mind? Here are two sure ways. Firstly, by being very selective of whatever goes into it. “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things” (Phil 4:8). Resist the lies of the devil and he will flee from you. Secondly by daily feeding your mind with the word of God. “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). Have you renewed your mind today?

IN HIS PRESENCE is written by Oke Chinye.
Have you asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart?

He says in Mathew 11:28, “come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” He longs to give you rest."

Would you like to do so now? Here’s a prayer you can say:
Dear Jesus, I believe that You died to save me from all my sins. Today, I invite you into my heart and I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Please forgive all my sins and help me to live my life for You.

If you prayed this prayer, send me an email at rockteachingministry@gmail.com

I would love to pray with you personally and send you a copy of my book; ‘Living the Life’ to encourage you as you begin your new life in Christ.
