MANAGING YOUR MENTAL HEALTH IN DIFFICULT TIMES (2)

Read: 3 John 2

Meditation verse: “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

THE POWER OF POSITIVE AFFIRMATION: Never underestimate your ability to talk yourself up. What you say to yourself in difficult times matters. Learn to affirm yourself: “I am capable, I have the resources to successfully navigate this. I’ve got this. I function in an effective and efficient manner”.

THE POWER OF SPEAKING IN TONGUES: As a child of God, you can exist in two realms: the physical and spiritual realm. And “tongues” is the language of the spiritual realm. Every locality is known by its language. So, when the challenges of life get too much in the physical realm, switch to your spiritual language; begin to speak in tongues. After a while, you would begin to feel better.

THE POWER OF NATURE: Never underestimate the benefits of nature. Being outdoor and in nature enhances self-connectedness, enhances mental wellbeing, enhances clarity relieves stress. This is critical with digitalization, home working, increased screen time. 90% of our time spent on our devices, for work (emails) and non-work activities. Huge amount of research from Kings College shows that we are more creative with outside in touch with nature. Nature is our natural habitat, and we are naturally calmer outside. Get into the habit of spending more time in nature.

THE POWER OF EXERCISE: Exercise has a tremendous effect on your mental health, because when you exercise the body releases a hormone called “feel good hormone”. Hormones are your body’s chemical messengers, produced by glands into your blood stream and they act on various organs controlling how you function and feel. There are a group of hormones called the feel-good hormones: (dopamine, endorphin, serotonin, and oxytocin). They are called so because of the happy and euphoric feeling they produce. They carry messages across spaces in your nerves (neurotransmitters.) you can increase your level of these hormones with simple lifestyle changes like exercise, healthy diet, meditation, surrounding yourself with people who affirm and validate you. Receiving praise releases dopamine, exercising releases endorphin.

IN HIS PRESENCE is written by Oke Chinye.
Have you asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart?

He says in Mathew 11:28, “come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” He longs to give you rest."

Would you like to do so now? Here’s a prayer you can say:
Dear Jesus, I believe that You died to save me from all my sins. Today, I invite you into my heart and I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Please forgive all my sins and help me to live my life for You.

If you prayed this prayer, send me an email at rockteachingministry@gmail.com

I would love to pray with you personally and send you a copy of my book; ‘Living the Life’ to encourage you as you begin your new life in Christ.
