MAINTAIN GOOD WORKS
Read: TITUS 3:8-14
Meditation verse:
“And let our people also learn to maintain good works, to meet urgent needs, that they may not be unfruitful” (Titus 3:14)
Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast”.
Your salvation does not depend on your good works. But your salvation should produce a deep yearning for good works. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10). In order not to become unfruitful in your Christian race, you must be intentional about maintaining good works.
Here are some examples to get you started.
James 1:27 says, “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world”. Mathew 25:35-40 says, “for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ John 13:35 says, “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another”.
Start being intentional about loving others. Reach out to the poor. Visit the widows in their distress. Provide for the hungry. Give to those in need. Visit the sick and afflicted. Be concerned about those in need. These acts of kindness may not come naturally to us, hence the command to be careful to maintain good works. When last did you reach out to someone in need? “This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men” (Titus 3:8)

Have you asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart?
He says in Mathew 11:28, “come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” He longs to give you rest."
Would you like to do so now? Here’s a prayer you can say:
Dear Jesus, I believe that You died to save me from all my sins. Today, I invite you into my heart and I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Please forgive all my sins and help me to live my life for You.
