ENLARGEMENT CAN BE PAINFUL

Read: Romans 8:18–39

Meditation Verse:

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” (Romans 8:18)

I went through a season of intense internal struggles—not with people, but within myself. I battled anxiety, uncertainty, and fear that lingered, even after praying. One morning, while studying my Bible, I came across a write-up in Bishop T.D. Jakes’ Woman, Thou Art Loosed Bible that said:

If you are going to bring forth anything in your career, marriage, or life… if you are going to develop anything in your character… if you are going to be fruitful, it will come through the things you suffer. You will enter strength through sorrow.

That hit me deeply.

I realized then that I needed to change my perspective. What I was going through wasn’t punishment—it was preparation. It was a birthing process. The pain I felt internally was pushing something out of me—something greater. If everything had been calm and comfortable, I might not have had the drive to press deeper into purpose. Comfort never produces greatness—only mediocrity lives there.

Think about it: most meaningful transformations are painful.

  • Gold is purified through fire.

  • Pearls are formed through irritation in oysters.

  • A butterfly emerges from a struggling larva.

  • A baby is born through the stretching, discomfort, and eventual pain of childbirth.

Why do we pray for enlargement or promotion and then get discouraged when the process becomes uncomfortable? Why do we expect ease and instant results when even nature teaches us otherwise?

A full-term pregnancy takes nine months. Gold isn’t purified in minutes. Real transformation takes time—and pressure.

God is working behind the scenes of your life, shaping and refining you in ways you can’t yet see. He holds the full picture, even when you only have a few pieces.

Trust the process. The pain is producing something greater than you can imagine. And the glory that will be revealed in you will be worth it.
