PRESENT YOUR CASE BEFORE THE JUDGE

Read: 2 Chronicles 20: 1-30

Meditation verse:

“O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us, nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You” (2 Chronicles 20: 12)

The nation of Judah found themselves faced with an overwhelming situation. Three nations formed an alliance to battle against them. When the king of Judah heard the news, he was greatly afraid. He knew that it would take more than the military might of his army to handle this situation. The odds were overwhelming; physical might and strategy would not cut it. A higher power was needed so king Jehoshaphat decided to ask for help from God and he proclaimed a fast throughout Judah. He stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the Lord, before the new court, and presented his case before the Judge.

In presenting his case before God, Jehoshaphat did not begin with asking God to deliver them from the invading nations; he first acknowledged God’s greatness, might and power over all things. Then he recounted the many ways that God had helped them in the past. He reminded God of all His spoken promises. He then stated the case at hand and asked God to intervene. Finally, he acknowledged their inability to handle the situation outside of God’s help. And God spoke through His servant: “position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”

When faced with threatening situations or when the odds are against you, how do you react? Do you complain, murmur, depend on your own strength or simply do nothing? On hearing the news, king Jehoshaphat feared, but in his fear, he set himself to seek God. What is that overwhelming situation before you that seems to have defied every solution?  Why not deploy Jehoshaphat’s five step approach today. Whenever God’s might and power is referenced, you can be sure that He will show up to preserve His reputation. And He will show up for you today.

Have you asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart?

He says in Mathew 11:28, “come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” He longs to give you rest.

Would you like to do so now? Here’s a prayer you can say:

Dear Jesus, I believe that You died to save me from all my sins. Today, I invite you into my heart and I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Please forgive all my sins and help me to live my life for You.

If you prayed this prayer, send me an email at rockteachingministry@gmail.com. I would love to pray with you personally and send you a copy of my book; ‘Living the Life’ to encourage you as you begin your new life in Christ.

I look forward to hearing from you.
