WHAT KIND OF VESSEL ARE YOU?

Read: 2 TIMOTHY 2:20-26

Meditation verse:

“Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work” (2 Timothy 2:21).

A vessel is a container made with a capacity to hold a particular content. It only becomes useful when it has that content in it, else it is just an empty vessel. A vessel can be identified by its content, for instance, a jar of oil or a bottle of coke. The content of a vessel can be pleasant or unpleasant. The usefulness of the vessel is not determined by its size, but by the quality of its content. The contents of the vessel can become contaminated and useless. Lastly, a vessel can be empty, partially full, or completely full to overflowing.

As a child of God, you are a vessel, created for a particular assignment. And God has put everything you need to succeed in your assignment inside of you. Your assignment and gifts are the contents in your vessel. What you do with what God has put inside of you will determine whether you become an empty, a partially filled or an overflowing vessel. Empty vessels stop at receiving Christ as their Lord and savior. 2 Peter 1:5-9 gives a list of things to be added to faith if we are to be fruitful in our walk with God; – virtue, knowledge, self-control, brotherly kindness, and love. Empty vessels do not put in the effort required to grow in the faith and come to the knowledge of the truth. Eventually they become barren and unproductive, with nothing to offer in service.

Overflowing vessels are constantly in God’s presence, so they are full of the Holy spirit and the word. They are also full of joy, wisdom, power, and good works. They have put in the effort to build their faith and develop their gifts. They have become vessels for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, and always in a prepared state for every good work. They are loaded, always imparting grace and wisdom. And because they are loaded, they are always needed.

Jeremiah 18:3-4 says, “Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so, he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make. What kind of vessel are you? God can make you an overflowing vessel today if you ask Him to and are willing to yield to Him.

Have you asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart?

He says in Mathew 11:28, “come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” He longs to give you rest."

Would you like to do so now? Here’s a prayer you can say:
Dear Jesus, I believe that You died to save me from all my sins. Today, I invite you into my heart and I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Please forgive all my sins and help me to live my life for You.

If you prayed this prayer, send me an email at rockteachingministry@gmail.com

I would love to pray with you personally and send you a copy of my book; ‘Living the Life’ to encourage you as you begin your new life in Christ.
