THE GRACE TO LET GO

Read: Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Meditation Verse:

“A time to gain, and a time to lose. A time to keep, and a time to throw away” (Eccesiastes  3:6)

A few weeks ago, I made the decision to let go of something. It was not an easy choice, and  on the surface, it even seemed foolish. Yet deep within me, I sensed a quiet assurance—a  gentle inner witness—that it was the right thing to do.

Letting go is often painful. This is why we sometimes cling tightly to people, roles, or  situations long after they have served their purpose. As humans, our lives unfold in seasons  and transitions. God brings people into our lives for specific times and assignments, and He  also leads them out when those seasons are complete. In the same way, we are meant to  remain in certain situations only for a season, not forever.

Many of us are being held back by the very things we refuse to release. What you are  holding on to may be what is keeping you stuck. A relationship. A role. A job. A partnership.  A grudge. A familiar situation that no longer gives life. Letting go is not a sign of weakness; it  is often an act of obedience and trust.

Scripture reminds us that “there is a time to keep, and a time to throw away” (Ecclesiastes  3:6). Wisdom lies in discerning the difference.

As the year draws to a close, this is a perfect time to pause and take an honest audit of your  life. What needs to be kept? What needs to be released? What is God inviting you to carry  forward—and what is He gently asking you to lay down?

“To everything there is a season,

A time for every purpose under heaven…

A time to gain, and a time to lose;

A time to keep, and a time to throw away.”

Ecclesiastes 3:1, 6

Allow your inner witness, guided by the Spirit of God, to lead you. Sometimes, the doorway  to the next season opens only when we find the grace to let go.
