Remember What He Told You

Read: Luke 24:1–7

Meditation Verse:

“Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, ‘Why do  you seek the living among the dead?’” Luke 24:5

Jesus repeatedly told His disciples that He would suffer, die, and rise again on the third day.  He prepared their minds long before the crucifixion. Yet on resurrection morning, the  women who loved Him dearly went to the tomb expecting to find His body. They carried  spices—not because they doubted His love, but because they had forgotten His words.

It was only when two angels appeared and said, “Why do you seek the living among the  dead? He is not here, but is risen. Remember how He spoke to you…” that their memory was  awakened. Then they remembered His words.

We often shake our heads at their forgetfulness, but are we any different? How often do we  also forget what God has spoken? How many times do we allow fear, delay, or disappointment to overshadow His promises?

God has said:

“I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).

“Fear not, for I am with you… I will strengthen you and help you” (Isaiah 41:10).

Yet, when life presses us, we panic, we fret, we become discouraged, or we run from one  human solution to another—seeking life in dead places.

Whatever your experiences have been this year, do not allow them to silence God’s  promises or distort His faithfulness. Do not remain in the tomb of doubt. Do not let delayed  blessings convince you that God has forgotten you. Do not bow to fear, compromise, or  worldly shortcuts—that is seeking the living among the dead.

Hold on to God’s word as though your life depends on it—because it truly does. You are not a stranger to His covenant; you are a partaker.

You are not without hope; Christ in you is the hope of glory.

God has already given you everything pertaining to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3).

You are destined for victory, not defeat.

So keep believing. Keep trusting. Keep remembering what He told you.
