IDENTIFYING YOUR PURPOSE
Hello and welcome to my blog. Did you know that God knew you long before you were born or even conceived? Yes, He thought about you and planned for you because He has a purpose in mind for you. Sadly, many of us pass through life unaware of this fact. We end up being less than what God intended for us. As a man or a woman created by God, you were created to add value to the lives of those around you and impact your world. When you are unaware of this assignment or fail to take it seriously, nobody wins. It becomes the loss to those around you as well as yours. The greatest love you can give to yourself is to discover the reason you were created and accomplish it.
God had a calling and a purpose for Jeremiah, which he was unaware of. When God informed him of his purpose (a prophet to the nations), he was overwhelmed with feelings of inadequacy and God had to encourage him before he believed in himself (Jeremiah 1:1-10). Gideon experienced similar feelings when God revealed his purpose to him because he felt unqualified for the task, and God had to reassure him (Judges 6: 15). Clearly, people need help when it comes to discovering their life’s purpose. They need to be encouraged to prepare for and pursue it.
How can you find your purpose in life? It all starts with God. Having an encounter with God, knowing Him, having a relationship with Him, and growing in that relationship is the beginning of the journey to finding and fulfilling your purpose. Abraham, Moses, Gideon, David, Samuel, Saul of Tarsus, and other biblical heroes who did exploits for God began by having an encounter with Him. During such encounters, their spiritual eyes were opened. These times are no different. You must encounter God by accepting His son as your Lord and Saviour. The bible reveals that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10). Wisdom is both the ability to discern what is right and the strength of character to act on it. God is our source of wisdom and power. You discover your purpose as you grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ, because the Holy Spirit who now resides inside you begins to reveal your unique gifts, talents, abilities, interests, and experiences all of which direct you to your life purpose.
You can be helped by others to unwrap and identify your unique qualities. For instance, as a Business Psychologist, I am trained to help you identify your personality, interests, abilities, and strengths. However, only the Holy Spirit can reveal the exact nature of your assignment to you. Some questions that can lead you to your purpose include:
- What things do I naturally do well?
- What actions do I always receive great commendations for?
- What am I most passionate about?
- What do I do that gives me great joy?
- What situation or circumstance gets me angry?
- What kind of environment inspires me?
Finding your purpose is usually a process and may take time, but when you do, you are well on your way to living a fulfilled life. Do you want to live a more fulfilled and wholesome life? Discover your calling in life, grow to your full potential and actualize your purpose. “The purpose of life is a life of purpose” (Robert Byrne).
I pray for you that you will discover and live a purpose driven life so that you will not be found wanting. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me if you feel lost and stuck in life. If you have already identified your purpose, do let me know the difference it has made in your life.
Yours in service,

Have you asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart?
He says in Mathew 11:28, “come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” He longs to give you rest."
Would you like to do so now? Here’s a prayer you can say:
Dear Jesus, I believe that You died to save me from all my sins. Today, I invite you into my heart and I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Please forgive all my sins and help me to live my life for You.
If you prayed this prayer, send me an email at rockteachingministry@gmail.com
I would love to pray with you personally and send you a copy of my book; ‘Living the Life’ to encourage you as you begin your new life in Christ.
