DEALING WITH FEELINGS OF DISCOURAGEMENT (2)

Read: 1 Kings 18 and 19.

Meditation verse:
“Then the Lord said to him: “Go, return on your way to the Wilderness of Damascus; and when you arrive, anoint Hazael as king over Syria” (1 Kings 19:15)

It is interesting to note that Elijah could not do anything about how he felt until God appeared to him and instructed him on what to do. God told him to leave the cave where he was hiding and return via Damascus. He was then to anoint Hazael as King over Syria, anoint Jehu as king over Israel and anoint Elisha as his successor. In order words, he was instructed to get out of Isolation and continue to perform his prophetic duties.

Are you currently struggling with feelings of discouragement? Why not talk to God about how you feel. Elijah was upfront about his feelings. Though it turned out he was wrong, he told God how he felt. Why do you feel discouraged? Do you feel afraid, lonely, tired, or frustrated? Do you feel abandoned by God because that need has not been met? Talk to God about it. He already knows your thoughts anyway.

Take a step of faith and arise from the place of despondency. Get up and go about your daily affairs. God instructed Elijah to get out of the cave. Elijah got out and went about his duties as a prophet. What is in front of you to do? Do what you must and watch God show up mightily. He may not appear to and speak to you as He did with Elijah, but you have His word to instruct you. You have the Holy Spirit in you. So, meditate on His word. Let His promises soothe you. He says, I will never leave you, I will never forsake you, I will help you.

Lastly, be in a company or community of people and help someone. Times of discouragement are the best times to do kind deeds. One sure way of feeling good about yourself is by helping people feel good about themselves. This is the law of sowing and reaping.

Have you asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart?

He says in Mathew 11:28, “come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” He longs to give you rest."

Would you like to do so now? Here’s a prayer you can say:
Dear Jesus, I believe that You died to save me from all my sins. Today, I invite you into my heart and I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Please forgive all my sins and help me to live my life for You.

If you prayed this prayer, send me an email at rockteachingministry@gmail.com

I would love to pray with you personally and send you a copy of my book; ‘Living the Life’ to encourage you as you begin your new life in Christ.
