BE LIKE THE COFFEE BEAN
Read: 2 Corinthians 4:7-18
Meditation verse:
“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory” (2 Corinthians 4:17).
A young lady, weary of life’s unending challenges, once went to her mother for help. It seemed that as soon as one problem was solved, another would arise. Her mother silently took her to the kitchen, placed three pots of water on the fire, and put a carrot in the first, an egg in the second, and coffee beans in the third. After a while, she removed them. The carrot, once hard, had become soft. The egg, once fragile, had turned hard inside. But the coffee beans were different—they had transformed the boiling water itself into something sweet and fragrant.
The lesson is profound: adversity affects people differently. Some, like the carrot, begin strong but become weak and broken under pressure. Others, like the egg, appear fragile but emerge hardened, bitter, and unyielding. Yet, the coffee beans rise above adversity by transforming it, producing something better than before.
As a child of God, you are the salt of the earth and the light of the world (Matthew 5:13–14). Do not allow life’s challenges to strip away your strength or harden your heart. Instead, let trials refine you, adding value to your life and to those around you.
Every challenge you face is not wasted—it is working in you “a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” Be like the coffee bean. Let adversity bring out the fragrance of Christ in you, making you stronger, better, and more fruitful for His Kingdom.

Have you asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart?
He says in Mathew 11:28, “come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” He longs to give you rest."
Would you like to do so now? Here’s a prayer you can say:
Dear Jesus, I believe that You died to save me from all my sins. Today, I invite you into my heart and I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Please forgive all my sins and help me to live my life for You.
