HOW BIG IS YOUR CAPACITY?
Read: Isaaih 54:2-3, 2 Kings 4:1-6
Meditation verse:
“When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.” But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing” (2 Kings 4:6, NIV).
Capacity is the maximum amount that something can carry or the largest amount or number that can be produced, held or contained. Capacity is not just a measure of space. Spiritually, it is a measure of your readiness. In 2 Kings 4, the widow’s miracle was limited not by God’s power, but by her preparation. The oil stopped when the vessels ran out. Elijah had instructed her to gather many vessels, knowing full well that the size of her faith and the scale of her preparation would directly determine the size of her breakthrough.
In Isaiah 54, we see a similar principle: before the barren woman could become fruitful, she had to enlarge the place of her tent. God was ready to bless, but the recipient had to stretch and make room first. So He instructed: “enlarge the place of your tent and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings. Do not spare; Lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes. For you shall expand to the right and to the left, and your descendants will inherit the nations, and make the desolate cities inhabited” (Isaiah 54:2-3). Expansion always follows enlargement.
How big is your capacity? Often, we pray for increase—more opportunities, greater influence, financial abundance, deeper relationships—but we rarely pause to ask ourselves if we are truly prepared to handle what we’re asking for. Just like the widow’s oil, blessings will only flow to the extent of your preparedness. If you want more, you must become more. You must cultivate the knowledge, discipline, resilience, intellectual, mental and spiritual depth necessary to sustain greater levels of influence, income or impact. Your aptitude will determine your altitude. You cannot rise above your current capacity. Don’t pray for more but do nothing to become more. God will not violate your readiness.
What aspect of your life do you desire expansion? Have you prepared vessels for the blessing you are asking for? Where do you need to enlarge your capacity?
This is a call to intentional growth. It may mean stretching your faith, stepping out of your comfort zone, developing new skills, or letting go of limiting mindsets. Just as a wineskin must be renewed to hold new wine, you must also be renewed to contain the new things God wants to pour into your life. So, enlarge your tent, strengthen your stakes, and make room for the overflow. The oil is ready—but the vessels must be many.

Have you asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart?
He says in Mathew 11:28, “come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” He longs to give you rest."
Would you like to do so now? Here’s a prayer you can say:
Dear Jesus, I believe that You died to save me from all my sins. Today, I invite you into my heart and I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Please forgive all my sins and help me to live my life for You.
