STOP RUNNING — FIGHT BACK

STOP RUNNING-FIGHT BACK!

STOP RUNNING-FIGHT BACK!

Read: 2 Corinthians 10:3-6

Meditation verse:

“Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).

“Apocalypto” is an epic historical adventure film set in the ancient Mayan civilization of southern Mexico. The fictional story follows the harrowing journey of a young man named Jaguar Paw, whose village is raided by a brutal invading force. He and his fellow tribesmen are captured and marched to a Mayan city, where they are to be offered as human sacrifices. Jaguar Paw eventually escapes, but his captors pursue him relentlessly. For days, he runs through the dense forest, climbing trees and hiding from the enemy. Then, something shifts. He stops running and declares: “My name is Jaguar Paw, son of Flint Sky. I am a hunter, and this is my forest. My father hunted here before me, and my children will hunt here after me. I am not afraid.”

With renewed courage, he begins to fight back. He knows the terrain. He sets traps. He uses the venom of frogs as weapons. He unleashes a swarm of bees. One by one, he defeats his enemies—using nothing but the resources found in his environment and the determination within. There comes a moment in every believer’s life when you must stop running and start fighting. 2 Corinthians 10:4 reminds us: “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds”.

Jaguar Paw found victory the moment he stopped fleeing and took a stand. You too must resist the enemy. “Submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you” (James 4:7). Take your stand. Say with confidence:“I am [your name], child of the Most High God. The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. I am not afraid.” Then, reach for your spiritual weapons. God has equipped you with all you need for victory.

As Ephesians 6:13–18 declares: Take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness… taking the shield of faith… the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God—praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.” These are your mighty weapons. Use them. Stand your ground. Fight back.

Has the enemy brought sickness, fear, poverty, sin, guilt, or loss against you? Don’t retreat. Don’t surrender. Christ already won the ultimate victory on your behalf. Now, it’s your turn to stand in that victory—and fight.
