WHAT IS THE INSTRUCTION?
Read: 2 Kings 3 & 4
Meditation verse:
“And he said, ‘Thus says the Lord, “Make this valley full of ditches.”’” (2 Kings 3:16)
The King of Israel had gone to war against the Moabites, accompanied by the King of Judah, Jehoshaphat, and the King of Edom. After marching for seven days, there was no water for the army nor for the animals that followed them.
In their desperation, Jehoshaphat suggested they seek the face of God through the prophet Elisha. As Elisha enquired of the Lord, he instructed them to make the valley full of ditches: “For thus says the Lord, ‘You shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain; yet the valley shall be filled with water, so that you, your cattle, and your animals may drink.’”
In 2 Kings 4:1–7, a widow cried to Elisha because her creditor was coming to take her two sons as slaves. Elisha asked what she had in the house and instructed her to borrow vessels from everywhere, pour oil from her single jar into all the vessels, sell the oil, pay her debts, and live on the rest. As she obeyed the instruction, the oil from her jar flowed continuously into all the empty vessels until there were no more vessels to fill.
At the wedding in Cana of Galilee, the wine ran out. The mother of Jesus informed Him of the problem and instructed the servants to do whatever Jesus told them. The instruction was: “Fill the water pots with water and draw out from them.” The water became wine that was sweeter than the initial one that had run out.
In each of these examples, an instruction preceded the miracle. There was a great need that demanded immediate intervention. The situation was so dire that only a miracle would save the day. The people involved were wise enough to seek divine intervention and immediately follow whatever instruction was given. The result was overflow—because God always responds with something bigger and better than what was asked for.
What is that dire situation in your life that demands divine and immediate intervention? Have you sought the face of God concerning it, or are you trusting in the arm of flesh? Has God given you an instruction—and are you obeying it fully? Partial obedience amounts to disobedience. The miracle is in the obedience, and obedience starts with taking the first step.
It’s a new month. Why not present that challenge to the Almighty and listen for His instruction? And as you obey, may you receive your miracle in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Have you asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart?
He says in Mathew 11:28, “come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” He longs to give you rest."
Would you like to do so now? Here’s a prayer you can say:
Dear Jesus, I believe that You died to save me from all my sins. Today, I invite you into my heart and I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Please forgive all my sins and help me to live my life for You.
