THE POWER OF YOUR WORDS
Read: James 3:5-12
Meditation verse:
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, `and those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21)
I learnt a valuable life lesson from my last child, whilst she was little. Anytime you jokingly called her a naughty girl, she would scream “I am not a naughty girl” and then start crying. Even though it was a joke, she rejected it. Today she is a seventeen-year-old girl who is so focused on excellence in all her undertaking. I believe that at such a young age, she understood the power of words in shaping one’s reality.
Our words are powerful creators. They can shape your reality. Do not speak what you do not want to experience. And you will give an account of every word you speak including words spoken carelessly. Therefore, think carefully before you speak. Ephesians 4:9 says, “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers”. Mathew 12:36-37 says, “But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words, you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned”.
James 3:5-6 says, “Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.
Learn to reject put downs from others, as my wise little girl did many years ago. When people say things to you that do not align with your view and vision of your life, do not keep silent. Silence portrays acceptance. Verbalise your rejection immediately. There is power in words.

Have you asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart?
He says in Mathew 11:28, “come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” He longs to give you rest."
Would you like to do so now? Here’s a prayer you can say:
Dear Jesus, I believe that You died to save me from all my sins. Today, I invite you into my heart and I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Please forgive all my sins and help me to live my life for You.
If you prayed this prayer, send me an email at rockteachingministry@gmail.com
I would love to pray with you personally and send you a copy of my book; ‘Living the Life’ to encourage you as you begin your new life in Christ.
